Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the launch of strategic offices for the development of Al-Baha, Al-Jouf, and Jazan regions.
The move aims to aggrandize benefit from the competitive and relative privileges of each region and to develop the investment environment to attract more investments in partnership with the private sector.
The Crown Prince confirmed that work is underway to set up strategic offices in the regions, where there are no development authorities or strategic offices, in order to develop all regions across the Kingdom, the state-run SPA reported.
He added that these strategic offices will focus on all development components in those regions.
They will also focus on investment in the development potentials in each region to maximize benefit and transform these potentials to elements supporting the economy.
Moreover, the offices in the three regions will undertake development works in coordination with all government authorities, to encourage and engage the private sector in developing their spatial potentials.
The launch of strategic offices in Al-Baha, Al-Jouf and Jazan comes in line with the Crown Prince’s vision for a sustainable and comprehensive development in all regions across the Kingdom through capitalizing on the relative advantages of each region and providing more job opportunities to all nationals. In addition, the move aims to improve the quality of life as well as basic and infrastructure services across the Kingdom.
Al-Baha region is key for being among the most prominent tourist areas in the Kingdom. It includes a large number of forests, such as Raghadan Forest, Al-Qam’a Park and Al-Shakran Park, in addition to the ancient village of Dhi Ain, and several villages and forts.
Al-Jouf region is characterized by being the oldest settlement area in the Arabian Peninsula, as its existence historically dates back to the Paleolithic period. Moreover, it is considered one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the Kingdom, and it includes Baseeta center, which is the “food basket of the Kingdom”. The region is also characterized by its moderate climate in summer and the abundance of fresh groundwater. It is also famous for the cultivation of olive trees, as it produces approx. 67% of the Kingdom's overall production of olive oil.
Similarly, Jazan region has several economic advantages in the logistical, agricultural, and heritage sectors. It includes Jazan Port, the Kingdom's third largest port on the Red Sea coast in terms of capacity. It is also marked by its environment and climate diversity, and it is the main gateway to Farasan Islands. From the heritage side, Jazan region has ancient monuments dating back to 8000 BC, and it is considered one of the key agricultural areas in the Kingdom, which enjoys a diversity of its agricultural crops.
