Nama Chemicals completes Hassad periodic maintenance, resumes operations

Nama Chemicals Co. safely completed the scheduled periodic maintenance works for Hassad project, an affiliate with Jubail Chemical Industries Co. (JANA), according to a bourse statement.

All maintenance works have been completed, and the hydrochloric acid, caustic and sodium hypochlorite plants resumed operations on Oct. 20., the company said, adding that works are underway to operate the allyl alcohol and epichlorohydrin plants.

During this periodic maintenance, works have been done to change the chemical catalysts as well as inspect, repair, and maintain the different units of the affiliated units.

In addition, works have been done to integrate the chilled water system affiliated to utility unit, the statement said, adding that the operation of the entire industrial complex will be completed on Oct. 25.

The maintenance costs amount to SAR 19.6 million, and there is no change to these costs.

The relevant financial impact will be very limited, as the company maintains sufficient inventory to operate the related plants and other units.

Earlier this month, Nama Chemicals announced the shutdown of Hassad project, as of Oct. 1, for an expected period of 20 days and return to production on Oct. 2, according to data compiled by Argaam.
