NEOM Co. stated that the NEOM Industrial City (OXAGON), announced today, Nov. 16, by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is an optimal model for industrial cities with an unprecedented vision.
It added that the city is a place that will meet investor needs.
OXAGON will be the largest floating industrial complex in the world, featuring another achievement in NEOM's masterplan. In addition, it will be a new model for the advanced manufacturing concept, embodying NEOM's strategy to redefine the future of living and work.
This pioneering city will transform perception of business, industry and living, with an unprecedented style.
OXAGON guarantees the world's first integrated ecosystem for supply chain and ports, where the operation of port delivery facilities, logistics and railways will be unified. This will provide global productivity levels, with net-zero emissions. In addition, the supply chain as well as the integrated physical and digital logistics services will facilitate the safe and on-time delivery, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the industry partners.
The city's industrial development is based on seven sectors, namely sustainable energy, independent mobility, innovation of water solutions, sustainable food production, health and well-being, technology and digital manufacturing, communications, space technology and robotics, as well as modern construction methods. All these sectors are 100% supported by renewable energy.
OXAGON aims to create a real circular economy with a collaborative environment based on research and innovation. The city will embrace the education, research and innovation (ERI) ecosystem to compete with existing global centers.
The city is also being developed with major manufacturing facilities, including the world's largest green hydrogen project, which includes Air Products, ACWA Power and NEOM in a three-way joint venture (JV). It also includes the world's largest and most advanced modular building plant with Gulf Modular International, in addition to the largest hyperscale data center in the region - a JV between NEOM and FAS Energy.
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, said that, through OXAGON, there will be a fundamental shift in how the world views manufacturing centers.
"What encourages us is to see the enthusiasm of a number of our partners who have shown eagerness to start their projects in OXAGON. These pioneers of change will establish factories, developed with the latest technologies in artificial intelligence, to achieve a significant leap for this era into the Fourth Industrial Revolution," Al-Nasr added.
He added that, like THE LINE, OXAGON will be a comprehensive cognitive city that provides exceptional livability for its residents.
Joshua Steiner, Director Corporate Development, NEOM, expects the city to receive the first residents by the end of 2023, and the completion of coastal projects by 2030, which will be immediately followed with the development projects.
