Health minister highlights rise in COVID-19 cases; forecasts infections to increase

Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al Jalajel said the Kingdom is currently recording a rise in the number of coronavirus infections, expecting a further increase in the coming days.

On his official Twitter account, Al Jalajel said the vaccine proved its effectiveness in relieving symptoms and hospitalization, expressing concerns about the people who have not received the doses in full.

"Most patients in the intensive care units are those who have not completed immunization," the minister noted.

The total number of COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom reached 562,437 today, Jan. 4, an increase of 2,585 compared with yesterday, according to data compiled by Argaam.
