CITC reveals internet speeds in Saudi Arabia for Q4 2021

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) released its report on internet speeds in Saudi Arabia (Meqyas) for Q4 2021.

 

In a statement, CITC compared the speeds of service providers in the Kingdom through download, upload and speed of access to digital content.

 

The average download speed for mobile internet reached 169.52 megabits per second (Mbps), a rise of 13.73% compared to Q3 2021.

 

The average download speed for fixed-line internet amounted to 104.19 Mbps, a rise of 3.89% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).

 

stc came in the first place in terms of mobile internet average download speed, with 176.81 Mbps, up 8.91% QoQ.  

 

Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA) came first in fixed-line internet download speed, with 164.59 Mbps, rising 6.57% compared with Q3 2021.

 

The number of Saudi cities covered with 5G reached 84, at an average speed of 368.69 Mbps.

 

Zain KSA came first in the speed of access to Microsoft Teams and Webex. Meanwhile, both Zain KSA and stc shared the leading position in speed of access to Zoom. Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) preformed the best when it comes to the video conferencing application Google Meet.

 

Through this report, CITC seeks to enhance competition among local operators to provide the best services, through boosting the level of transparency in the market by publishing the relevant data and indicators, as well as enabling investors to view the telecom market performance indicators in the Kingdom.
