Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose by 8% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 51.8 billion in January 2022, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports declined by SAR 2.5 billion, or 5%, in January from December 2021.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in January was driven by a SAR 2.3 billion hike, or 25%, in its imports of machinery, mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and parts thereof. That is in addition to a 32% rise, or SAR 1.35 billion, in products of the chemical or allied industries.
