The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources said that foreign or joint capital and investments represent about 39% of total investments in the industrial sector, and also account for 15% of total number of existing and under-construction factories until the end of last May, according to a statement.

This confirms the Kingdom's ability to attract quality investments in various economic activities, it added.

There are 839 factories with foreign investment in the Kingdom until the end of May 2022, or 8% of the total number of factories, with investments of more than SAR 65 billion. Meanwhile, there are 787 joint-capital factories, representing 7% of total factories, with investments of above SAR 464 billion. There are 9,049 national factories, representing 85% of total number of factories, with SAR 832 billion investments.

The ministry also pointed out that small factories constitute the largest proportion of total foreign investments in the sector, by about 54%, followed by medium factories by 39%, while large factories represent 7%. It added that Riyadh region accounts for the largest percentage of total number of foreign factories in the Kingdom, with 410 factories, followed by Makkah region with 196 factories, then the Eastern Province with 170 factories.
