Saudi merchandise imports rise to SAR 55.1 bln in July; China top exporter at 22%

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports rose 18% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 55.1 billion in July 2022, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

Imports for July fell month-on-month by SAR 5.77 billion, or 9%, as shown below:

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in July was driven by a SAR 3.05 billion, or 160%, rise in mineral products, in addition to other products.

Saudi Arabia’s largest imports came from China, amounting to SAR 12.05 billion and accounting for 22% of the total value of imports in July.

The US and the UAE came in second and third with a share of 8% and 7%, respectively.

The top 10 import countries accounted for about 63.4% of the total imports, equivalent to SAR 34.9 billion, as the following table shows:
