POS devise
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 10.89 billion in the week ended May 13, compared to almost SAR 11.59 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that about 171.46 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent what consumers spend using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Most sectors witnessed a decline in terms of sales value during the past week, except for the hotel sector, which rose by 2%.
The education sector was the top decliner, falling 27%, followed by telecommunications (12%).
During the week, consumer spending was focused on food and beverages (F&B) with nearly SAR 1.70 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes (SAR 1.72 billion).
