POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 10.61 billion for the week ended Jan. 20, compared to SAR 12.35 billion in the previous week.
Data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that total POS transactions amounted to around 172.82 million for the week.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

During the week, all sectors retreated in terms of transaction value, except for the education sector, which rose 110%.
The clothing and footwear sector topped the list of declining sectors, down 28%, followed by the hotels sector (27%) and the restaurants and cafes sector (21%).
Consumer spending was focused on the food and beverage (F&B) sector, totaling SAR 1.67 billion during the week. The restaurants and cafes sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 1.60 billion, as follows:
