Prices of 70 Saudi goods, services decline in January 2024

Prices of 70 goods and services in Saudi Arabia declined year-on-year (YoY) in January 2024, while prices of 94 others rose and one commodity remained unchanged YoY, out of 169 goods and services in total, official data issued by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

Out of 92 food products, prices of local round onion recorded the biggest rise by 68.88% YoY last month, followed by imported round onion (44.12%).

On the other hand, Indian pomegranate and local figs saw the steepest decline YoY at 19.69% and 15.46%, respectively.

Meanwhile, prices of 14 construction materials increased YoY in January, while 22 products declined during the same month.

Prices of eight livestock and fodder products rose YoY last month, while five others fell annually.

For clothes, seven items under this category saw an increase and three saw a decrease.

Prices of three miscellaneous personal goods and services climbed YoY in January, while one fell YoY.

Prices of all detergent products increased last month compared to the same month the previous year.

Prices of two health services edged up in January, while the cost of the third service fell YoY.

Elsewhere, prices of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation were up in the same period.

Prices of hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in December.

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro fell YoY last month.
