Saudi imports of electric vehicles (EVs) increased by 271% to reach 779 cars in 2023, amounting to SAR 397.3 million, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing the General Authority for Statistics.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom imported 210 EVs in 2022, valued at SAR 52.3 million, the newspaper added.
Three countries accounted for the majority of imported EVs last year, with about 765 cars out of the total. The US came first place with about 459 cars worth SAR 282 million, or 58.9% of the total imported cars, followed by Germany with about 269 cars worth 108 million (34.5%), then China with 37 cars worth SAR 5 million.
