US President Donald Trump reiterated on Friday that he will not sack Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
“No, I think he’s doing a terrible job,” CNN reported, quoting Trump when asked whether he planned to remove Powell. This followed the US administration’s escalation of its criticism against the Fed chair on Thursday.
When pressed again by CNN about whether he would fire Powell, Trump repeated: “No.”
“I believe interest rates should be cut by three percentage points. He’s costing our country a lot of money. We should be number one, but we’re not, and that’s because of Jerome Powell,” Trump added.
