Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is ready to allow Japanese ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil supplies, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported.
He added that talks have begun with Japan regarding the potential reopening of the strait.
Japan relies on the Middle East for about 95% of its oil supplies, with roughly 90% of its shipments passing through the strait, which Iran had largely restricted amid the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
