Saudi Banks’ credit portfolio up 12% in September-2014

Credit portfolio of Saudi listed banks in addition to the National Commercial Bank rose 12% to SAR 1,248 bn by the end of September-2014 compared to the same period last year; data compiled by Argaam indicated.
 

Non-performing loans in September declined 6% to SAR 15.4bn compared to the same period last year while the coverage ratio improved from 155% to 174%.

Non-performing loans of five banks increased in September led by Alinma bank capturing an increase of 75%.

 Al-Jazira and Arab National Bank reported the most declines in non-performing loans at 60%, 46% and 21% respectively.

Non-Performing loans ratio to total banks’ credit portfolio declined to 1.24% compared to 1.47% in the same period last year.

SAMBA, Al-Bilad and Al-Rajhi reported the highest non-performing loans ratio at 1.62%, 1.57% and 1.55% respectively.

Most banks increased their non-performing loans coverage ratio above 160% except for SABB and SAMBA.
