Saudi Aramco said it would extend the bidding for its Ras Tanura rehabilitation project to Feb. 2015, according to a report published by Al-Riyadh newspaper.

The Ras Tanura clean fuels and aromatic project has estimated costs of about SAR 11.25 billion. It is expected to be up and running by 2018, the report said, quoting unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

At the beginning of 2008, before Aramco decided to postpone its project plans, the company signed a deal with Worley Parsons to manage Ras Tanura's expansion, according to data available on Argaam.

Once completed, Ras Tanura will be the largest refinery in the Middle East with a production capacity of 950,000 barrels per day, up from its current output of 550,000 barrels.
