Mobily's next general meeting is' most crucial,' says lawyer

15/01/2015 Argaam

Mobily's next general meeting will be the most important since the company’s inception in 2004, said

Hesham Al Askar, the company's lawyer.

Shareholders will discuss the company’s accounting restatements, decisions relevant to the investigations, and the telecom operator's future outlook, he told CNBC Arabiya in an interview this week.

Mobily's general meeting is usually held in February, according to data available on Argaam.

The telecom operator, which is Saudi Arabia’s second largest, had suspended former chief executive Khalid Al-Kaf on Nov. 23, 2014 due to accounting errors and faulty financial statements.

Moreover, an arbitration committee is expected to hear a claim filed by Mobily against Zain Saudi, an affiliate of Kuwait Zain, on Feb. 7, according to Argaam.

Mobily is seeking to obtain SAR 2.2 billion from Zain over a 2008 deal signed between both companies in which Mobily agreed to provide its smaller rival with domestic roaming and site sharing services.
