Saudi's SWCC to spend SAR 10 bln on new desalination plants

Saudi Arabia’s Saline Water Conversion Corp. (SWCC) is planning to spend SAR 10 billion on the construction of three new water desalination plants in Jeddah, Rabigh and Jubail, the company said in a statement obtained by Argaam.

The facilities ​will have a total capacity of 2.5 million cubic meters of water. Individually, the Jeddah 4 plant will have a daily capacity of 400,000 cubic meters, the Rabigh plant would reach 600,000 cubic meters a day, while the facility in Jubail should see a capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters, according to a SWCC spokesperson.

The company added that it expects the government​'s​ strategy to boost production of desalinated water would attract around SAR 60 billion in investments over the next few years.
