Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has invited bids for developing one wind and two solar energy projects in the West Nile area.

The facilities will be developed on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis, according to the NREA tender notice.

Companies need to submit prequalification entries by October 5 for a 250 megawatt (MW) wind project under a usufruct agreement, by which the project ownership will be transferred to NREA at the end of the project term.

Bidders will also bid for a 200MW solar photovoltaic (PV) and a 50MW concentrating solar power (CSP) projects.

Bids for the PV and CSP plants will close by November 2 and November 16, respectively, the notice said.

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) will sign power purchase agreements (PPA) with the winner.

In June, NREA was said to have signed several memoranda of understanding with different groups for land allocation for solar and wind projects.
