Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh) is on track to start up its new 160,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) swing unit this year, ICIS reported, citing an unnamed source close to the company.
The facility is within the company's cracker debottlenecking project dubbed Rabigh Phase II, which involves the expansion of Petro Rabigh's Refining and Petrochemical Complex.
The complex had been closed till October 2015 for maintenance, in order to facilitate the cracker’s expansion and debottlenecking work.
Petro Rabigh is a 50-50 percent joint venture between Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical and the state-owned energy firm Saudi Aramco.
