China-based Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Co. has delayed for the second time the restart of its monoethylene (MEG) plant in Tianjin to March 25, ICIS reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The plant, which has a capacity of 380,000 tonne/year, was taken offline earlier this month on March 8 due to technical issues. It was slated to restart on March 20.

Sinopec SABIC Tianjin petrochemical was incorporated in September 2009 with a total investment of about $2.7 billion, according to data compiled by Argaam. In January 2011, the unit launched its ethylene plant, and on May 11 2010, it started commercial operations at the complex.

The company has a capital of $1.53 billion and is an equally-owned joint venture between SABIC and Sinopec.
