The UAE’s Abraaj Group has led a $30 million fundraising round for Ninja Logistics (Ninja Van), a last-mile logistics provider serving markets in Southeast Asia, the Dubai-based private equity firm said in a statement.
Abraaj invested in the round through one of its funds, alongside current investor Monk's Hill Ventures and new investors B Capital Group and YJ Capital. Abraaj currently manages $1.4 billion worth of investments across number of sectors in Asia.
Ninja Van will use the funds to expand deliveries to Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines by the end of this year, the statement said, adding that it would also make “significant investments to improve its customer service systems and triple customer service headcount across the region.”
The Singapore-based logistics startup, which was established two years ago, aims to fill a market need for simple and efficient delivery solutions in a region where e-commerce is booming.
“Last-mile logistics, which is the backbone of e-commerce, remains a bottleneck, and Ninja Van is well-positioned to enhance the e-commerce experience for customers and businesses,” Omar Lodhi, Partner and Head of Asia for The Abraaj Group, said.
