Saudi Arabia’s National Project Management Office has invited bids for contract to provide consultancy services for a body that will oversee future capital expenditure projects in the kingdom, a MEED report said.
The companies have been asked to send their bids by July 12. The contract will initially be for three years.
Among the firms invited to bid are: Aecom (US), Atkins (UK), Bechtel (US), CH2M (US), Fluor (US), Hill International (US) and Parsons (US).
The National Project Management Office was formed by the Ministry of Economy and Planning in 2015.
According to an earlier MEED report, Saudi Arabia had asked government departments to appoint consultancies to set up their planned project management offices (PMOs).
The PMOs are also highlighted under the Vision 2030 reforms. “The kingdom’s agencies are currently undergoing a wave of reforms and transformation,” the report said, citing the overview document for Vision 2030.
“To manage this momentum and ensure all efforts are coordinated, we adopted an effective approach to project management and established expert (PMOs) in the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and many other government agencies. We also set up a central delivery unit,” it added.
The PMOs will also assist the country’s privatization drive.
