Greece-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) is looking at ways to hasten Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Metro project in order to finish the public transport scheme as scheduled, according to Samer S. Khoury, the company’s president of engineering and construction.
“We are confident to catch up on delays to complete the project on time, although some parts are quite delayed and could slip behind the completion date,” Khoury told Argaam in a phone interview, speaking from Greece. “We are working with the client to mitigate these delays.”
Saudi Arabia has been keen on delivering the project by its 2019 deadline in order to continue developing the country’s public transportation infrastructure and reduce traffic in the country’s capital. The metro is currently 36 percent complete.
CCC is working on the project, which is valued at about $7 billion, in a consortium with United States-based contractor Bechtel and Saudi Almabani.
