Saudi Railway links Waad Al-Shamal to North-South Line

05/02/2017 Argaam

Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) has completed a project linking Waad Al-Shamal City to its North-South Railway Line, which connects the northern and eastern regions with the capital city of Riyadh, state-owned Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The railway company has connected Waad Al-Shamal industrial facilities by a 130 kilometer-long rail line to the North South track.

A 60 kilometer-long connection was also built to link Saudi Aramco’s molten sulphur facilities in the Eastern Province.

SAR’s trains will also carry molten sulphur from Aramco’s facilities to Saudi Arabian Mining Co.’s (Maaden) projects. The trains will transport phosphate end products to local markets and export ports.

Last week, the company started its trial run of molten sulphur wagons.

SAR had earlier ordered 1,200 multi-purpose tank wagons and 36 trucks.
