The third edition of the GCC Petroleum Media Forum begins today in Abu Dhabi, with an international keynote lecture to be delivered by Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih.

Al-Falih will address the event on future plans regarding OPEC’s agreement last November to trim oil output in the first half of 2017.

The two-day event will also host the energy ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, alongside 250 members of the media and regional energy industry.

OPEC secretary general Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo and his counterpart from the International Energy Forum, Xiansheng Sun, will open the conference on Wednesday.

The forum aims to boost public perception of the oil and gas industry, and enhance the accuracy and depth in coverage of the sector.

“We want to increase transparency and give information on the market that is based on knowledge and based on a diverse mix of opinions,” UAE energy minister Suhail Al-Mazrouei said in a statement.

Argaam is a media partner for the event.
