17/09/2017 Argaam

Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) started on Sunday receiving online requests for Photovoltaic Solar Cells service to regulate the number of subscribers, and to be able to study demand for the service and its impact on the national grid.

Relevant details are posted on SEC’s official site to make it easier for subscribers, the Saudi State News Agency (SPA) reported, said the company’s acting vice CEO for distribution and customer services, Khaled Al Qanon.

The initiative falls under SEC’s plans to expand use of renewable energy to support national economy and help reduce the Kingdom’s oil dependency in line with Saudi Vision 2030, he noted.

A team of experts is developing the regulations and necessary technical designs to launch the project, in line with the instructions of the Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA) and the world’s latest solar technology, the Vice CEO added.

The Saudi utility provider is currently developing the necessary regulations for the qualification phases, which will be announced later in line with ECRA’s instructions.
