Saudi Arabia in talks to buy Russian passenger jets: report

20/11/2017 Argaam

Saudi Arabia is in talks with Russia on possible supplies of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) and MC-21 aircraft, Viktor Kladov director for international cooperation and regional politics at state-run Rostec, told Russia's news agency TASS Monday.

No further details were provided about the target order or the deal value.

"We have an active dialogue with Saudi Arabia on a whole number of areas, they are interested not only in the Russian equipment, but also in technologies. I would not like to go into details, but the dialogue is positive," Kladov said.

The SSJ-100 is the first civil aircraft designed in Russia, while MC-21 is a medium-haul aircraft being developed by the United Aircraft Corporation.

Last month, Riyadh agreed to buy S-400 air defense missile system from Moscow for $3 billion.
