Emaar extends tender deadline for Dubai Creek Harbour mall: report

Dubai developer Emaar Properties has extended by nearly five months the tender closing date for the contract to build the world’s largest shopping mall in the Dubai Creek Harbour development.

The closing date has been moved to April 26, 2018, from Dec. 17, 2017, MEED reported. At least three groups are taking part in the tender for a deal estimated to be worth between AED 15 billion and AED 18 billion ($4-5 billion).

The bidding consortiums are as follows:

- ALEC (local)/ Arabian Construction Company (Lebanon)/ Dutco Balfour Beatty (local)

- China State Construction Engineering Corporation (China)

- Consolidated Contractors Company (Lebanon)/ Shapoorji Pallonji (India)/ Ssangyong (South Korea).

The total built-up area of the mall is expected to be about three million square metres (sqm), which will include 1.7 million sqm of retail, 550,000 sqm of residential, 180,000 sqm of commercial space, a 175,000 sqm basement, and a 40,000 sqm hotel.

Currently, Emaar’s Dubai Mall is the world’s largest shopping centre by total area, covering an area of 1.124 million sqm.
