Saudia launches campaign to become 5-star airline

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has launched today a campaign that would develop the carrier into a five-star company, as well as bring it to the list of the world’s top five airlines.

“All aspects of the travel experience will be completely developed,” Saudia’s Director General Saleh Al Jasser said at a press conference today.

The privatization process of the airline is also ongoing, under the supervision of a committee led by the minister of transport, Al Jasser added.

The Kingdom’s flagship carrier reported good quarterly profits, and was able to reduce the Cost of Available Seat Kilometer (CASK) by more than 10 percent in 2017, he said.

He added that the company was able to control its costs and boost its revenue by 8 percent, all while keeping ticket prices at a far rate for its customers.

“If we cannot interact and be closer to the guests, they will leave to other carriers, whether when it comes to domestic or international flights,” he said. “There is a move to bring pricing closer to market prices. In the end, we are doing business so that we can grow, expand and invest, and return-on-investments should also be made.”

In regards to the planned initial public offering of Saudia Cargo Company, Al Jasser said that Saudia is still monitoring market conditions to choose a suitable time.
