The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) inked two executive projects with the UNESCO on Tuesday, Arab News Reported.
The first project is worth $3 million and is designed to support Syrian refugee children in Lebanon to complete their basic education, said Azzam Obaid, media adviser at KSRelief headquarters.
He added that the program will serve around 10,800 refugees in Beirut, Sidon, Beqaa, Al Janoub, Tripoli and Akkar.
“This support will expand the children’s access to education, encourage them to remain in school and provide skill-based assistance for the mothers of school-aged children,” Arab News quoted Obaid.
Obaid highlighted that the purpose of the second agreement is establishing strategic cooperation and joint partnership between the KSRelief and UNESCO in the education sector, focusing on capacity-building and training, exchange of information, academic studies and research.
“Some of these projects include supporting ministries of education, constructing educational facilities, rehabilitating and equipping educational facilities, providing educational tools and supplies, enabling students to continue their education and supporting and training teachers,” said Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of KSRelief in Paris.
On the other hand, Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General, expressed her support for KSRelief and its initiative in helping needy people worldwide.
