The total value of assets held by investment funds in Saudi Arabia rose 6 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to SAR 266.9 billion in the first quarter of this year, data issued by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) showed.
The increase was due to a 9 percent QoQ rise in the total value of assets held by public investment funds in Q1 to SAR 120.1 billion.
The value of private investment funds, which represents 55 percent of the Kingdom’s total investment funds, increased 4 percent from the previous quarter to SAR 146.8 billion.
The number of subscribers in investment funds rose to 299,000 in Q1 from 242,500 in Q4 2017.
Meanwhile, the number of subscribers in public investment funds jumped 24 percent QoQ to 295,000 for the quarter.

The value of assets held by public investment funds in money markets and stocks stood at SAR 75.1 billion and SAR 22.3 billion respectively in Q1, representing 81 percent of the total value of assets.

Meanwhile, the value of assets held by private investment funds in stocks and real estate came in at SAR 81.7 billion and SAR 56.7 billion respectively, accounting for 94 percent of the total assets.
