Kuwait Oil to tender two Jurassic gas packages

18/06/2018 Argaam

State-run Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) will tender two large packages to process gas from Kuwait’s Jurassic fields in the Middle Marrat reservoir, MEED reported Monday.

The scope of so-called Jurassic Production Facilities (JPF) will include sour gas processing facilities and transmission infrastructure. Expressions of Interest (EoI) for were submitted before the end of May, industry sources said.

Both packages are going to be tendered using Kuwait’s early production facility (EPF) contract, rather than using the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model, MEED added.

The news website highlighted that the packages might be a partial or full retender of the KOC's Jurassic Gas Facility Phase 1 project, which was tendered in September 2017 and officially cancelled in December. It was then scheduled to be completed in 2021.

The value of the Jurassic Gas Facility Phase 1 project was estimated at $3.6 billion, with a scope including a central processing facility (CPF), offsite facilities, and a pipeline gathering system.

The project's CPF was planned to have the capacity to process 590 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas, 220,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and 1,200 tons a day of sulphur.

The project aimed at meeting Kuwait’s growing gas demand and to implement the government's plans to produce more than 4 billion cf/d of natural gas by 2030.
