The United Arab Emirates on Friday agreed to set up a "comprehensive strategic partnership" with China to enhance cooperation in all fields, state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The two countries signed several business deals, as they aim to strengthen economic cooperation across the board, including oil, defense, and trade.
Both nations also agreed to conduct joint military training.
The following are agreements made during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three-day visit to Abu Dhabi:
1) State-owned DP World said that UAE agreed to build a new trade zone in Dubai, as part of China’s “One Belt, One Road” trillion-dollar infrastructure project which aims to revive the Silk Road trading routes with a global networks of ports, roads and railways.
2) Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) awarded two contracts worth $1.6 billion to BGP Inc, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Company (CNPC), to search for oil and gas in onshore and offshore sites covering 53,000 square kilometers in the emirate.
3) Etihad Aviation Group, the parent of Etihad Airways, inked a Memorandum of Understanding during with Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Cooperation and Investment Co. (JOCIC) to support the development of the China-UAE Industrial Park next to Khalifa Port.
