National Water says projects worth SAR 45 bln under construction

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has 901 projects under construction, at a cost of more than SAR 45.2 billion, the firm said in a statement on Tuesday.

The new projects are part of a program that aims to achieve targeted coverage rates across the Kingdom, it added.

In the first half of 2018, the company completed 47 water and environmental projects at a cost of nearly SAR 1.4 billion, as part of the National Transformation Program 2020.

Among the projects under-construction, 219 are coming up in Riyadh, 76 in Madinah, 95 in the Eastern Province, 82 in Qassim, while Asir has 49 water and environmental projects.

There are 72 projects underway in Tabuk, 26 in Najran, 110 in Makkah, 47 in Hail and 51 projects in Jazan, the statement said.

Al-Baha has 30 projects, while Al-Jouf and the Northern borders have 15 and 29 projects, respectively.

The projects include installing water pipeline, water and wastewater networks and strategic reservoirs, and reinforcing water resources, wells and dams.

They also include establishing domestic water and wastewater connections, as well as building wastewater treatment plants and water purification plants.
