Spending by Saudi Arabia’s outbound tourists down 20% in 2017

The spending of tourists from Saudi Arabia at international destinations has dropped by 20 percent in 2017 (YoY) to SAR 77.97 billion, according to figures published by Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).

The number of outbound tourist trips (flights) from Saudi Arabia declined during 2017 by one percent to 21.1 million versus 21.2 million in 2016.

The GCC countries accounted for the largest share (48 percent) of tours/flights departing from Saudi Arabia at 10.1 million during 2017.
