Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) plans to reveal a comprehensive strategy to develop the civil aviation sector soon, president Abdulhakim Al Tamimi told Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper on Monday, without giving more details.
The aviation industry regulator has been working on the new strategy for six months.
“The new program will bring the local aviation industry up to world-class standards,” Al Tamimi said.
Saudi Arabia will offer a third license for ground handling services within a few months, as part of its efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of ground services and handling at the Kingdom’s airports.
Al Tamimi said he hopes to see more partnerships between local and foreign firms to set up private airlines across the Kingdom.
