10/12/2018 Argaam

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will inaugurate the first phase of King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) project in the Eastern Province.

The 50-square-kilometer energy city will be constructed between Dammam and Al-Hasa. The first phase covers 12 kilometers.

SPARK is expected to contribute to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP) by over $6 billion, and will generate 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.

When completed, the project will include 15,000 residential units of apartments, villas and complexes, in addition to 400 hotel rooms, educational, health and accommodation facilities.

As the developing company, Saudi Aramco will make SPARK its drilling and workover operation headquarters, and home to a supply chain management center.

Ten training centers will be built, in addition to commercial buildings, offices, restaurants and retail stores.

The project will include five zones; the industrial zone, the dry port, the business district, the training area, and the commercial and residential zone.

The industrial area will include zones for manufacturing, electricity and equipment, chemicals, metals, and industrial services.

SPARK’s port will have an advanced logistics platform connected with the future railway linking Gulf countries, with an annual expected capacity of 8 million metric tons, when operational.

Aramco is the project’s developer in terms of infrastructure, operations, management and maintenance, in partnership with the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON).
