Saudi Arabia’s capital will be home for the Second Saudi International Exhibition & Conference for Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Defence Summit on Feb. 13-15.

Both events will be held at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC), under the auspices of the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

More than 300 local, regional and foreign exhibitors and over 50 speakers will participate in the conference to showcase their prominent achievements in the field of technology and communications, particularly the IoT technology and its practical applications in different walks of life.

“The IoT Exhibition and Conference will include many key themes to be discussed by several local and international university speakers and experts with the aim to cover the latest research of the Saudi universities and what they provide in this field,  private public speakers to present and talk about the market and employment opportunities, and international speakers to cover the current global situation,” ,” Fahad Al-Qarni of New Horizons Convention and Exhibition Center said in a statement.

These themes will focus on the following topics: artificial intelligence, the access to a number of IoT-based devices and applications and the protection and defence of information in all stages of transmission through different devices and applications.

The IoT is based on the cloud computing, which allows storing a vast amount of data and information and share them in in a safe and fast manner.

This has contributed to connecting devices used by the individual, whether they are home appliances, cars, aircrafts or buildings, and made them connected to the Internet, which facilitates remote control, and this is the concept on which the IoT technology is based, he added.

IoT investments in the Kingdom are expected to hit $5 billion by 2020. Artificial intelligence smart devices are also forecast to reach 200 worldwide, recent economic report showed.

Saudi Arabia’s internet users exceeded 30 million in 2018.
