Dur Hospitality’s new Makkah hotel to open in Q1 2020

Tadawul-listed Dur Hospitality Co. will open a new Makarem brand hotel in Makkah in the first quarter of 2020.

The 760-room Makarem Sagryah Tower Hotel be located in Maabeda locality, five kilometers from the Haram, the company said in a statement issued to Argaam during the Arabian Travel Market.

With the announcement, the company inches closer to achieving its expansion strategy of operating 5,000 rooms by 2023.

"Makarem Hotels continues to seek opportunities that contribute to pursuing the goals of Vision 2030, specifically in terms of accommodating an anticipated 30 million pilgrims by 2030," said Badr Al Badr, chief executive officer, Dur Hospitality.

“The new hotel will increase Makarem's portfolio to 2,591 rooms, taking us on the path to reaching 2023 targets,” added Hassan Ahdab, president of hotel operations, Dur Hospitality.

Makarem brand offers an array of convenient accommodation and diverse service to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims along with other visitors. The brand’s current portfolio under operation consists of 1,415 rooms, with another 1,176 rooms in the pipeline.

Separately, Karam for Umrah Services, a subsidiary of Dur Hospitality and the operational arm of Umrah Services, signed international agreements with more than 10 major travel agencies.

The subsidiary will offer services and packages to facilitate matters related to Hajj and Umrah.
