Four Saudi banks have rolled out Apple Pay services to credit card holders, starting May 21, 2019 in partnership with the Saudi National Payments scheme (Mada).

Bank Albilad, Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB), Banque Saudi Fransi and Saudi British Bank (SABB) have joined the second stage of service rollout, Mada said in a statement.

Accordingly, nine banks are serving over 85 percent of credit card holders.

National Commercial Bank (NCB), Al Rajhi Bank, Alinma Bank, Riyad Bank and Bank Aljazira participated in the first round.

Almost 92 percent of point-of-sale (POS) terminals across the Kingdom support the Apple-based payment service, the statement added.

Global payments company Mastercard had earlier partnered with Mada to roll out Apple Pay in the Kingdom, Argaam reported.
