Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources has launched the second round of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), it said on its Twitter account.
For this round, 60 companies were pre-qualified, of which 28 are Saudi firms, while 32 are international companies.
Round II projects comprise two ‘Category A’ photovoltaic projects namely Rafha and Madinah stations, and four ‘Category B’ projects which include Al-Faisaliah, Jeddah, Rabigh, and Al-Qurayat stations.
The bidding documents for Category B projects will be issued July 18, 2019, while those for Category A projects will be available on Aug.1, 2019.
NREP is a strategic initiative under Vision 2030 and the King Salman Renewable Energy Initiative, aiming to maximize the potential of renewable energy in Saudi Arabia.
