Saudi Arabia records 4,757 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

The total number of coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia increased by 4,757 to 145,991 as of Thursday, June 18, the Ministry of Health announced today.

 

Recoveries reached 2,253, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 93,915, representing 64% of total registered cases.

 

Forty-eight new death cases were reported, while the death toll hit 1,139.

 

The total number of active cases currently receiving treatment reached 50,937, of which 1,877 are critical.

 

Meanwhile, a total of 1,442 cases were reported in Riyadh, followed by Makkah (399), Jeddah (300), Qatif (218), Madinah (191), Dammam (179), Al Hofuf (174), Khobar (162), Buraydah (129), Al Mubarraz (128), Dhahran (113), Ad Diriyah (102), and Khamis Mushait (100).

 

A total of 30,507 tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of tests to 1.2 million.

 

The Ministry of Health’s spokesman, Dr Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aali, said that COVID-19 is still active, as there is no vaccine currently.

 

The ministry is constantly updating its treatment protocol to return back to normal life by committing to preventive measures, he said, noting socializing is the major cause for half of the infected cases.
