COVID-19 mutation unlikely to impact vaccine efficacy: Health Ministry

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health does not expect the new COVID-19 mutation to affect the strength and effectiveness of vaccines.

 

The new variant has not been scientifically proven to increase the infection severity, ministry spokesman, Muhammed Al-Abdulaali, told a press conference.

 

Relevant authorities in the Kingdom are monitoring the situation and trying to find out more about these mutations and their transmission speed and severity, the spokesman pointed out.
