Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said the Postal Services Law, which was approved by the Council of Ministers today, Oct. 12, aims to develop the postal logistics services sector.

He added that the law also aims to find the legal and regulatory basis for the development of the postal logistics services, in line with the sector's developments locally and internationally, through making use of global experiences in organizing postal logistics services.

This aims to enable the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to exercise its regulatory and supervisory role and meet the needs of beneficiaries and service providers, in addition to achieving the desired economic and social returns for the Kingdom, Al-Swaha indicated.

He further said the law consists of 37 articles related to licenses, competition, obligations and rights of service providers and beneficiaries, as well as clearance of postal items, responsibility and confidentiality, control and inspection, in addition to violations and penalties.
