US crude oil inventories retreated against forecasts for the week ended Oct. 14, with gasoline inventories also down during the same period.
Crude oil stocks fell by 1.7 million barrels by the end of the week, versus expectations of a 2.5-million-barrel rise, data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.
Likewise, gasoline inventories shed 100,000 barrels, while distillate stocks saw a 100,000-barrel increase.
