Saudi Electricity Co. has started implementing measures related to unverified electricity meters after the deadline for customers to complete the verification process expired, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The company said these measures include the gradual suspension of certain additional services, leading up to a potential service disconnection. It stressed that customers would continue to receive notifications about the importance of updating their information to ensure uninterrupted access to all company services.
Saudi Electricity emphasized that meter verification aims to link the service to the actual user—whether an owner or a tenant—enhancing data accuracy and ensuring a more seamless and transparent electricity service.
It added that the verification process improves the customer experience by enabling users to manage their accounts more efficiently, monitor consumption, and receive updates on bills and other services directly.
The company explained that the actual beneficiary is the individual directly using the electricity service. This includes three main categories: homeowners who occupy their properties, landlords who lease their properties to tenants, and tenants who reside in and directly use the electricity.
It further stressed that verification safeguards the rights of all parties and minimizes disputes over billing and financial responsibilities between landlords and tenants.
Saudi Electricity urged customers who have not yet completed the verification process to update their information through available channels, including its mobile app, website, customer service offices, or call center.
The company also noted that customers can check their account numbers to determine their meter status. A number starting with "100" indicates an unverified meter that requires action, while a number beginning with "300" confirms that the meter is already verified.
Saudi Electricity underscored that the verification process is not merely an administrative update but a crucial step in protecting consumer rights, reducing billing disputes, and providing tailored services to meet the needs of actual users.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service quality and operational efficiency, urging unverified customers to complete the process as soon as possible to avoid any potential service disruptions.
