US natural gas inventories rose by 37 billion cubic feet (bcf) during the week ended March 21, exceeding expectations for a 26-bcf increase.
Data issued by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) today, March 27, showed that total natural gas inventories stood at 1.74 trillion cubic feet (tcf), down 24.2% (approximately 557 bcf) from the same period last year.
Additionally, inventories were 6.5% (nearly 122 bcf) below the five-year average (2020-2024) of 1.86 tcf.
