The White House announced today, June 18, that President Donald Trump approved a 90-day extension for China’s ByteDance to divest its popular video-sharing app TikTok in the US.
The new grace period begins immediately after the previous deadline expires on June 19, 2025, despite a law ordering the Chinese company to sell the app or shut it down if no significant progress is made.
This marks the third extension granted by Trump to stop the app in the US.
“President Trump will sign an additional executive order this week to keep TikTok up and running,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
