Iranian authorities confirmed that their nuclear sites were targeted in attacks early morning today, June 22, after the US claimed responsibility for the strikes on three facilities.

“A few hours ago, after activating air defenses in Qom and detecting hostile targets, part of the Fordow nuclear site was subject to a hostile airstrike,” Morteza Heydari, spokesperson for the Qom Province Crisis Management Department, told Tasnim News Agency.

Separately, Fars News Agency reported that air defense systems in Isfahan and Kashan were activated to intercept hostile targets, with multiple explosions heard simultaneously.

This came after Washington announced it had launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities. Reports indicate that B-2 bombers were used in the operation, dropping six bunker-buster bombs, while US forces also launched 30 Tomahawk missiles.

Tehran had evacuated the three targeted nuclear sites sometime prior to the US strikes, Mehr News Agency reported, citing the head of the news division at Iranian state television.
